The 2022 WiPA survey is live!

Take part in WiPA’s 2022 survey focusing on the challenges facing women in the industry during the cost-of-living crisis

21 October 2022

Since 2019, Women in Public Affairs’ comprehensive annual survey has focused on women’s progression in the industry and potential barriers to this. Based on the results, we’ve been able to track industry progress, or lack of, to address issues such as diversity and transparency in the sector to shine a spotlight on them and campaign for change.

This year, working with our brilliant partner Opinium Research, we have decided to reduce the length of the survey and focus more on the challenges facing women in the industry, particularly in light of the cost-of-living crisis. We’re taking a deeper dive into issues around employer support and transparency, as well as exploring what women want to see from the wider industry to support them during this difficult economic period. We invite you to take part and need your views by the 18th November 2022.

Last year's 2021 WiPA Survey sadly showed that the public affairs industry is losing out on top talent by not publishing their salary bands. The results revealed that nine in ten women find publishing salary bands and the gender pay gap important practices for the public affairs industry (92% and 90% respectively); however, only 26% of PA professionals say their companies currently publish salary bands and our survey found that nine in ten (87%) women in PA are less likely to respond to a job advertisement if it doesn’t show salary bands.

We'd also like to say a huge thanks to our partners Opinium Research for carrying out this research for us for the fourth year running - we wouldn't be able to do this without them. Going forward WiPA will look to run our usual holistic survey of the industry every three years but continue to hone in on key issues for the industry in the intervening years.
